Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
the 2016 filing season is closed for the year. PLEASE email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program is an IRS-sponsored organization to provide free, confidential and secure preparation and filing of Federal and State income taxes for qualifying taxpayers. Certified volunteers sponsored by various organizations receive training to help prepare basic tax returns in communities across the country.
VITA @ DU
DU's VITA program began as a program for international students. Accounting students and members of Beta Alpha Psi gain experience preparing tax returns and, in the case of international students, dealing with international tax treaties. Each return, domestic and foreign, is reviewed by a professional. VITA @ DU helped prepare over 270 tax returns on-site last year alone.
DON'T QUALIFY FOR VITA HELP AT DU?
You can prepare your own taxes for free online at: http://www.unitedway.org/myfreetaxes/. With an income limit at $62,000, you can skip the lines while still being able to use the MyFreeTaxes hotline as a resource for all of your tax return questions. The site will transfer you to H&R Block for preparation and filing.
